¿Vas a regresar a Venezuela?: Antes de hacer las maletas, organiza tu vida
Después de años fuera del país, regresar a Venezuela no debería comenzar con un boleto de avión, sino con una revisión integral de tu documentación, patrimonio y situación familiar. Antes de volver, verifica la vigencia de tu cédula y pasaporte venezolano, reúne tus partidas y documentos de estado civil, revisa los documentos de tus hijos y organiza aquellos documentos extranjeros que necesitarán producir efectos en Venezuela. Si durante tu permanencia en el exterior nacieron tus hijos, te casaste o falleció un familiar, analiza si corresponde registrar, insertar o transcribir esas actas en Venezuela, según el caso y la normativa aplicable. También revisa propiedades, vehículos, herencias, cuentas, empresas, poderes previamente otorgados y cualquier obligación pendiente. Y si traes bienes, dinero u otros efectos personales, infórmate previamente sobre las normas aduaneras aplicables al equipaje de viajeros, para evitar inconvenientes al ingresar al país.
Pero hay algo todavía más importante: no regreses improvisando; regresa preparado. Haz una lista de lo que necesitas regularizar, determina qué documentos requieren apostilla o legalización, cuáles necesitan traducción y qué trámites pueden adelantarse desde el extranjero mediante representación legal. Tu regreso puede ser también una oportunidad para reorganizar tu patrimonio, iniciar una inversión, preparar un emprendimiento o incluso estructurar tu empresa antes de llegar. After years abroad, returning to Venezuela should not begin with a plane ticket, but with a comprehensive review of your documents, assets, and family situation. Before returning, check the validity of your Venezuelan ID card and passport, gather your birth and civil-status records, review your children’s documents, and organize any foreign documents that may need to have legal effect in Venezuela. If your children were born abroad, you got married outside Venezuela, or a family member passed away while you were abroad, determine whether those records should be registered, inserted, or transcribed in Venezuela, depending on the circumstances and applicable regulations. You should also review property records, vehicles, inheritances, bank accounts, companies, previously granted powers of attorney, and any outstanding obligations. And if you are bringing goods, money, or other personal belongings, make sure you understand the customs rules applicable to travelers’ baggage before entering the country, in order to avoid unnecessary problems.
But there is something even more important: don’t return unprepared; return with a plan. Make a list of everything that needs to be regularized, determine which documents require an apostille or legalization, which ones require translation, and which procedures can be initiated from abroad through legal representation. Your return can also be an opportunity to reorganize your assets, make an investment, launch a business, or even structure your company before you arrive.
